Holidays – should be more of ‘em shouldn’t there?
Having just taken 5 days to go camping at Coolah Tops National Park, I’m a supporter.
Business Insider quotes a study that claims “…men who go on vacation every year live up to 20% longer.”
Not to be outdone, Netflix and Virgin, as many of us have heard, boast their worker-bees can take holidays whenever they want. Netflix: “We should focus on what people get done, not how many hours or days worked. Just as we don’t have a nine to five day policy, we don’t need a vacation policy.”
So how often should you take a holiday?
Well every 62 days (AKA 2 months) quotes London’s Daily Mail. “Cary Cooper, professor of organisational psychology and health at Lancaster University, said: ‘Workers really should take a break every few months otherwise they will burn out, which is bad for them and their employer’.”
But then how long does the inner-glow last? The miserable folk at The Guardian warn that the holiday-effect “lasts only a matter of days”. Thanks heaps…
